Surviving in a Zombie Base Building Game

Of course, no zombie survival game is complete without a sturdy lair to carry all your gear!

Gone are the days when you could just chuck your stuff in a tent, throw it under a tree, and pray no Huey’s fly over and happen to not render that tree.

Now you can take extra precautions to make sure your belongings are safe.

Safe from bandits, zombies, and even the harsh environment!

How to Build a Base in This Zombie Game

In this section, we are going to walk you through everything you need to know to go from some twigs on the ground to a king with a crown.

Sorry, good rhyme though.

First up, let’s get into the basics, preparation.

Prepare to Start Building

Every survivor starts on the coast along the edges of the zombie-infested map, with absolutely nothing at all.

So, you’re going to have to start somewhere.

Round Up Some Basic Resources

First things first, get some resources rounded up.

If you look at the floor, you’ll notice plenty of sticks and stones (maybe not so many) lying around.

Don’t think these aren’t important!

Grab them and continue on your way survivor!

Craft Some Handmade Tools

With these sticks and stones, crafting is the play!

Open up that crafting menu by hitting “TAB” and head on over to those handmade tools.

The handmade axe and handmade pickaxe are sure to get you to the finish line.

Materials Needed for a Handmade Axe:

  • 5 Sticks
  • 5 Stones

Materials Needed for a Handmade Pickaxe:

  • 5 Sticks
  • 8 Stones

Chop & Mine Better Resources

Now that you have some better tools, it’s time to get to choppin’… or minnin’.

There are plenty of trees and rocks around this island survival game! So, this shouldn’t cause too much trouble.

Find or Craft a Building Plan

While traversing the island looking for stone nodes to take down with your new pickaxe, don’t forget to check out some nearby buildings.

Sometimes, you can get lucky and stumble upon a building plan.

If not, you could just craft it up too.

Materials Needed to Craft a Building Plan:

  • 10 Wood
  • 10 Stone

Either way, this is necessary to build a base! You MUST get your hands on a building plan.

Forming the Base

Once you have that building plan, it’s finally time to lay the wood.

Using the Building Plan

Open your inventory and drag that thing on over to your hot bar. Or you could just right-click it and equip it.

Once holding that blueprint schematic, hold right click, select foundation, and lay the WOOD!

The blueprint wheel includes:

  • Door frames
  • Window frames
  • Walls
  • Stairs
  • Roofs
  • And more!

Choose wisely and don’t forget to make it to defend against the troubles lurking outside!

Doors & Locking

Once you’ve laid the groundwork, it’s time to throw on a door.

This is also done using the building plan.

A keylock and code lock used to secure a base in this survival building game.

However, you are going to need to craft a lock. Then once you’re done, make sure to throw it on that new door you just placed.

Interior Design

Every zombie survival base-building game requires a bit of interior design to stay on the cutting edge.

I ain’t talkin’ no pictures and flowers.

No no no.

Some serious survival equipment is what’s needed.

  • Crafting Bench
  • Furnace
  • Chem Lab
  • Watt Workbench
  • Kill Station
  • A Deer Head Hanging up on the wall.

These are the necessities. You stand no chance of surviving this base-building game unless you have these 5 pillar items. Good luck survivor.

Using the Ownership Box

Of course, don’t forget about the ownership box!

This is how you take ownership of your territory. Drop one of these bad boys down so that people know who not to MESS with.

How to craft up an ownership box:

  • 15 Wood
  • 3 Iron Bars

Upon second thought, this may be a bit more important than a deer head.

The ownership box in ZSGO that is used to define your plot of land in the open world.

The ownership box allows survivors to establish their plots of land on the island. The area that you claim with one of these cannot be built on by other players. Be careful to place more ownership boxes if you start building too large of a base. Currently, the ownership box only covers about 2 foundations away from wherever it is placed!

Upgrading the Base

Next up, it’s time to upgrade the base.

This is completed exactly how building the base is, however, you are going to need a hammer this time around.

How to craft a hammer:

  • 1 Stick
  • 1 Stone

Yeah… easy. Take your hammer out, hold right-click, and get to upgrading!

You can upgrade from wood to stone, and then metal.

Once you have a full metal base, that was optimally built to defend against bandits. Along with properly decking out your interior so that you have the tools needed to survive.

Then and only then, have you achieved Chad status in this zombie survival base-building game.

Good luck out there, survivor.

See What Survivors Have Accomplished!

Many survivors have already taken a shot at the base building!

This next section is going to highlight some of the craziest, weirdest, and absolutely most epic bases that we have seen in this zombie survival base-building game.

Early Game Works of Art

First up is the early game.

This is when you finally got your hands on some sweet mahogany, and you threw down your shelter!

It’s better than being out there with little protection during the night. Here’s a perfect example to the right of a survivor named albewild who threw down the perfect starter base.

Plenty of storage space, a crafting bench, and a furnace. Good to go!

Just because you can build with wood in the early game does not necessarily mean you have to upgrade ASAP. There’s always the option to get a nice comfy design going!

For example, the survivor below threw together a nice balcony, living room, and bedroom in no time!

Absolutely flawless.

That’s living lavishly in this zombie-infested world.

However, there’s always that next step!

Upgrading & Progressing Bases

Upgrading.

A very important factor in this base-building game.

Wood gets destroyed in only 1 C4, so you’ll have to protect against that.

The best way would be shipping that wall to stone. Or even metal!

This survivor decided to upgrade his entire first floor to stone! It is always smart to start with the first floor. That’s usually all that a normal zombie or bandit could reach!

Oh, and don’t forget about metal.

These survivors took it to the next level when it came to decking a base out in metal.

Don’t mind Tobias’ dirty room.

Clearly, these survivors know what’s going on.

It’s going to take more than 2 C4 to get through something like that.

Interesting & Questionable Base Designs

Now how about those who have mastered survival so incredibly, that they don’t even care about their base?

Here are some of the highlights of the most interesting, and questionable base designs we’ve seen in this zombie game.

First up is this survivor’s physics-breaking design.

We aren’t quite sure about the structural integrity of this thing, however, it is a site to behold.

Oh, and let’s not forget. Above this base are 200 floors of pure exhaustion.

Staircase after staircase after staircase.

However, you do come out with a very strategic view of the island!

Here it is FALLING TO DOOM.

So yeah, there is plenty of room for both creativity & accessibility in a zombie survival base-building game.

Now, what happens when the elite learn how to combine these 2 elements?

The Chad Base is formed.

The Ultimate Survivor-Chad Bases

Last but not least comes the Chad Bases.

Here’s a quick look at some of the highlights of the best bases we’ve seen built on this base-building game.

Absolutely monster bases.

Perfect for handling even the biggest of threats.

Now all they need is some upgrades, and they are good to go.

Good luck finding enough stone and metal for that!

This is just the start too. Who knows what future survivors will come up with in this zombie survival base-building game?

We love to see it all! Please, feel free to post your builds in our 🏠│base-builds-gallery on the Zombie Survival Game Online Discord.

Hopefully, this gave you all the information you need to get out there and make the perfect base!
